An excellent bit of history - made more real for me as I spend time each every summer in South Dartmouth where we overlook Round Hill and the mansion that once belonged to Colonel Green (Ned - Hetty's son). Until I picked this book up - I did not realize the connection to New Bedford - my birthplace. I really enjoyed this book. I had heard how Hetty was the "witch of Wall Street". This book suggests a much more nuanced person. Janet Wallach has written a very accessible book and is correct in pointing out that history repeats - especially when it comes to money, finance and investing. We see similar booms and busts every number of years.
