Despite overly convoluted plots, and rather shallow character development, I find I can't put Maitland's books down and am quickly working my way through all those my library has. I may even have to resort to buying others for my Kindle...Still, Kathy Kolla is neither an active nor recovering alcoholic which is a relief, even if her boyfriends never work out and family of origin issues appear to have left her emotionally stunted. Neither she, nor Brock, seem quite fully realized as people.

This Maitland mystery was a confusing mixture of twists, turns and tangents as well as characters, including Russian oligarchs, old Soviet spies, agents from MI5 and MI6, Americans, a Canadian, as well as the usual assortment of thugs, criminals and cops. By the time it was over, I wasn't really sure whodunit or why. Nevertheless, I anxiously await the next Brock and Kolla Mystery

Loved this book. Will definitely read more in this series.

Disappointing effort from an author I usually like. Found the story boring and the characters are not that interesting any more.
