Once again of course I loved reading about the old house and the different ghosts that were encompassing the home. I really enjoyed it immensely. The characters are well rounded, the family relationships realistic, and the atmosphere made for a cozy book to curl up with. I would highly recommend.

Really like all of her books.

Mel is someone I'd like to have as a friend. The San Francisco Bay area, with its old Victorian houses and the whole left coast vibe, is a perfect place to set a series that has haunted houses in need of restoration. In this book we also learn more about a subset of the Russian immigrants in the area. And we learned about "crazy cat ladies" and the feral cat community. Plus, how to go about renovating gems of old houses. And a little romance. Who could ask for anything more?

2nd book in this series. I enjoyed this continuing story of Mel. I liked that it seem to continue from where we left her just a few months down the road and how the author deals with learning of having such a gift in such a realistic way. Not everyone is going to love the idea of being able to see or interact with ghost. Not always as cool as the movies will lead you to believe.
This book really shows that. On top of which I enjoyed getting a much better understanding of her relationship with her stepson.

Interesting protagonist. The series handles the seeing-ghosts bit very well - not over the top at all. Very interesting story line this installment.
