A tranquil Spanish village by the sea is the perfect place for Primavera Blackstone to raise her 10-year-old Tom, son of the late lamented Oz, especially when they are joined by his nephew, tyro pro golfer Jonny Sinclair. But when her best friend Shirley introduces her new man, Patterson Cowling, he seems to be a trouble magnet.

Drawn to this title by positive responses to other Quintin Jardine thrillers. I am coming in late to the Oz Blackstone/Primavera Blackstone series, but I liked this story very much. A strong female protagonist, three-dimensionally developed, operating in an exotic international setting, with interesting supporting characters and good procedural details. Jardine writes knowledgeably about golfing, food, international black marketing and human choices and desires. I hope to read others in this series as well as in the Bob Skinner series by this author.
