Unfortunately, Mrs. Walsh did not rise to the occasion--as she did in her prior attempt to emulate Mrs. Sayers' series of books on Lord Peter Wimsey. I couldn't pass the first few pages, so boring and unlikely Sayers' books.

Jill Patton Walsh's take on Lord Peter and "Lady Peter" Wimsey is slow off the mark but picks up speed and interest and crosses the finish line in a satisfactory fashion.
I'd read the last of Dorothy L. Sayers' books in the series recently. Walsh doesn't capture Sayers' rhythm in dialogue at all but she's frankly better at plot. Sayers could plod along!

Re-visiting Dorothy Sayer's Lord and Lady Peter Wimsey [Harriet Vane] is great fun. Now they are married with children as is Bunter! But, they are all still solving cases. I, frankly, wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Delightful.

Enjoyable read.

A Lord Peter Wimsey book. (Dorothy Sayers character.) He isn't quite the "silly ass" as in the original books, but on the other hand, a wife and 3 sons will have helped him grow up. The book is great, never a dull moment in it.
