I really and truly hate when a women don't tell a man that she is having is child.I am sure he had a answer for her. he might have said I am not ready for that responsibility...or I am too young...or I don't want children... he might have said I'll stick with you and do my best. she will never know what is answer might have been because she didn't give him the chance to say yes or no she made the decision for him. the child is nine years old, a father has a right to see and take care of is child. she was wrong to hide It from him...and even after he found out she was still giving him a hard time. he even offer to move close to her so he could be apart of is daughter life she was still rejecting him. she was so immature. I hated that part of the story line she ruined it for me. she was so wrong about Max, and what she think she saw years ago. plus she still had feeling for him that is the main reason why she was been a hard ass. Flick there daughter is a joy! she is a sassy nine year old who talk like a grown up. she is definitely the star of this book without her the story line would have been boring.

When CIA operative Max Benedict hears of a plot to assassinate President Taylor, he rushes to do his duty. President Taylor adores tennis and the upcoming tennis tournament would be the perfect place to stage the attempted assassination. Could the killer be one of the tennis players or coaches?

Ten years ago, Kristin Lassiter spent an unforgettable night in Max Benedict’s arms. He was everything a young girl dreamed of - handsome, charming and caring. Even though he hurt her when she finally became a woman, Kristin could forgive Max for that. However, she could not understand what drove Max into the arms of another female the next morning. Hurt and angry, Kristin fled, taking with her a precious secret.

Now, Kristin has become an FBI agent in Miami, although her record is far from stellar. First, she kills a youth who was reaching for his cell phone although Kristin thought it was a gun. Next, an operation goes south and, remembering her previous lack of judgment, Kristin hesitates to draw her weapon. Consequently, her partner is shot and she is in hot water with the Bureau a second time.

When Max Benedict asks Kristin, a former tennis pro, to join him on the investigation he’s working on, Kristin initially refuses. Being with Max again will only dredge up memories of their playing tennis competitively long ago and of their sweet time together on that special night. She can’t allow Max to get too close, close enough to learn that he has a daughter whom he has never met.
