documentary on oil extraction from sand deposits in Canada and it's (a)effect on the envirronment and it's inhabitants.

Much of this is about cost and product on staying home as well however if you don't have the initial investment to get something like this off of the ground it's probably not going to stay local. You get into it as more of a middle man and perhaps this inacts a new set of issues or adds to the one'(s) listed above.

Excellent CDN. documentary on the ongoing environmental disaster called the Tar Sands.
The documentary asks the question what is more important to our health and well being "water or oil"? Also exposes water pollution and health hazards from extracting the oil sludge from the Tar Sands. Now after after the lies and deceptions of the Oil companies were exposed and ongoing protests and arrests, U.S. Pres. Obama has stopped
the proposed Keystone XL pipeline from Alberta carrying Tar Sands oil to Texas. So now the oil companies will increase pressure to put the Enbridge pipeline from the Tar Sands through BC to the coast. If approved this pipeline will cause massive environmental damage, destroy habitat and an almost certain oil spill on our coast. For example huge oil tankers will have to manoeuvre three 90 degree "hairpin turns" along the Coast route. Also winter storms plus let's not forget human error-remember the Exon Valdez and our own Queen Of The North ferry?
This doc. needs to be shown in schools and to community, church groups etc.- arrange your own showing. Do not be quiet about the Tar Sands and the proposed pipeline!
