The US economy has disintegrated; and with it the blueprints of the neoliberal economists. One of the strongest voices in predicting this collapse has been that of Paul Craig Roberts. His weekly columns in CounterPunch have won him audiences around the world. Now, he has written a short, sharp outline of 21st century economics, tracing its path to ruin and eloquently arguing for the changes that must be made to avoid a crisis of this kind.

[Brookings Institution has recently come out with two economics studies: (1) On how about one-half of the so-called new jobs cannot be verified as they are based upon a 1960 model of the birth/death rate of companies; and (2) another on just how very poor Americans really are. America is a third world country today.] I cannot understand how this book could be on the shelf and not always taken out? Outstanding read, and I'm not a real fan, normally, of Dr. Roberts, but he has full comprehension of the machinations, by design, and workings of credit derivatives and especially credit default swaps, and his important and critical remarks on the offshoring of American jobs really hits home!
