Even after witnessing the consequences of joining a gang first hand from his brother Alex, Carlos Fuentes is still determined to go against his brother's wishes and stray from the path his brother laid out for him. As a last resort, Carlos agrees to live with Alex’s former professor to avoid being sent to jail for drug possession. Carlos is shocked when he realizes that he enjoys this life, the feeling that he is with people that truly care for him and have his best interests. What’s even more shocking is when Carlo realizes that he is starting to fall for Kiara, the professor’s daughter. However, before he can let himself trust Kiara, Carlos must first deal with the decision that he made years ago when they come back to haunt him. To be honest, this book was not as good as Perfect Chemistry. Unlike Brittney and Alex, I felt that their relationship was forced.

Opposites attract between the average girl next door and a boy involved in gangs. If you are seeking a romance that stands out from the typical, this is it.

in the beginning, i didn't really like this book. the dialogue had a lot of spanish in it, so i had to take out a spanish-english dictionary (lol) and also, i just found Carlos really hard to like. But as the story progressed both Carlos and Kiara changed and yeah, it managed to make me cry. It was really nice how Carlos went from thinking he had no one to rely on to having more than he could have asked for. I LOVED this book and it is one of my favorites, even more so than Perfect Chemistry.

In this sequel to Perfect Chemistry we meet tough-talking Carlos Fuentes, who has just moved to Colorado from Mexico to live with his older brother, Alex, in order to finish out his senior year of high school. Kiara Westford is a clever, tomboyish, outdoorsy girl with a propensity for fixing up cars. As a peer guide to new students, Kiara is paired up with Carlos in order to acquaint him with his new surroundings, though once she meets Carlos she is no longer looking forward to the assignment. Carlos had hoped to distance himself from his gang affiliations in Mexico, but in only a matter of days someone has set him up for a drug bust at his new school, and he is required to live with Professor Westford, who also happens to be Kiara's father, as part of his release agreement. Carlos and Kiara: now under the same roof?

Rules of Attraction is painfully similar in formula to Perfect Chemistry, although Kiara is thankfully somewhat more fleshed out and human-like than Brittany. Carlos and Kiara's relationship seems to periodically jump to new intensities with nothing leading up to it, leaving me wondering several times if I had missed something. Their relationship feels flat and empty.

This book was downright amazing! I loved it. Kiara and Carlos have that one inseparable thing going on. The epilogue was funny, showing how Carlos changed to be a good father and turned to be a white-guy figure. The one thing I disliked about this book was that Kiara and Carlos don't kiss or anything until nearly halfway through the book. -.- that kind pissed me off. They just talked before that. And when they ended up getting together I expected Carlos to be more loving. But then again he realized that, yes in fact, he was falling for the girl. Honorable and truly heart warming. Rules Of Attraction.

Rules of Attraction has to be my favourite out of all three. I went into this book thinking it can't get better than Alex but it can. Out of all three of the brothers Carlos is my favourite. Carlos and Alex are very different from each other. Alex was forced into this position to become the father figure and provide for his family and be responsible and ambitious. Whereas with Carlos he doesn't seem to have a lot of ambition, he's very egotistical and hot headed. After spending time in Mexico where he was able to do whatever he wanted and not answer any questions he really isn't looking forward to moving back and having to be responsible. The two main characters in this book are Carlos and Kiara. Carlos doesn't start off as a very likable character, but he really grows on you as he starts to soften up and you see different sides of him. Kiara on the other hand you can't help but love from the beginning because of how she manages to stay true to herself no matter what. I really love the relationships that Carlos develops with the other characters as this book goes on, it really shows his personality. And the emphasis that the author puts on family life, culture and loyalty makes it a really nice book.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It was my favorite out of the three and I didn't think I would like it as much after Alex's story, but I did. I thought Kiara's stuttering problem was original and the way Carlos' handled it and everything was really sweet. I loved how after they slept together, Carlos TRIED to act like a jerk and distance himself away from her, but ended up not being able to do it because he was already too in love with her. Out of all the brothers, I thought Carlos was the best to read about and I especially liked that he joined the military and became quite close to Kiara's dad. I just loved everything about the book, the plot, the development of Carlos' feelings from the first moment the cookie prank was pulled, until the end. I love love loved it :)

Add a Summary

Rules of Attraction is about Carlos, an ex-gang member who is sent to live with his brother to try to start a new life. At first he has no interest in following rules because he thinks his brother is conforming, abandoning his Mexican heritage and being whipped by his girlfriend. When Carlos is framed for drug dealing he is sentenced to live with a sponsor family and take part in after school therapy group for at risk teens.

This is a sequel to Perfect Chemistry but I didn’t read that I found that Rules of Attraction stands alone nicely
