I like this book, but I don't like this book! The fact that the author stresses he was hired without a degree, although uplifting for many, may still be just too unrealistic! Many tech companies focus on select colleges (such as Ivy League) so even a standard college degree is unacceptable to them. The fact that the author was the son of a popular author may have been an ice breaker in job interviews? [Do I think one needs a degree, when self-education suffices? No, but I'm no the one doing the hiring today.]
