Add a CommentThis audiobook is very well written and exceptionally produced. At 31 discs, it is a major undertaking and there were many times I considered abandoning it. But I am glad I did not, as it gave me a tremendous amount to think about. Some of the content took me quite far outside my comfort zone. If you do not do well with graphic depictions of sexual violence, I strongly suggest avoiding this audiobook. The writing itself is first class, though I cannot assess the quality of the translation from the original Spanish. The book is divided into five parts, and each part is read by a different performer in the audiobook. All of the performers are superb narrators. I found the audiobook to be challenging, disturbing, at times boring, at times fascinating, but always leaving me in awe of its scope, rawness, and substance. On balance, I recommend the audiobook to anyone who values top-notch literature and narrative performance, who is willing to take the time to consume the work unhurriedly, and who does not wish to avoid graphic depictions of violence.
