This book is as well crafted as you would expect a winner of the Giller Prize to be. The actors' reading is very well done. I learned a great deal about Indian culture, viewpoints and their respect for and love of nature. The hold drug dealers can have on a small, isolated community is shown, too. There were some painful scenes that were hard to listen to, but I'm glad I did.

I enjoyed the novel. The stories of the two main characters were intertwined throughout.
