A Hail Of Arrows – Jenkin Lloyd Agincourt France 1415 – My Story Series. This is a delightful teenage rated historical fiction about the life of Jenkin Lloyd, a fourteen year old Welsh archer in the year 1415. This book was very well written and very descriptive, i.e., a vivid picture was revealed on what life was like for a common foot soldier responding to the bidding and ambitious appetite for power by England’s Henry V. Many hardships were suffered: starvation, forced marches, worse than poor living conditions, death by diseases like flux (dysentery) or loss of life or limb by various means on numerous battlefields. The author takes the reader through the siege of Harfleur in France, the English army’s forced march to Calais while being haunted and attached by various French loyalists and the superior in numbers French army. The book culminates with the famous battle at Agincourt followed by Jenkin’s return to his beloved Wales. Recommended for any young reader studying this era in History, the so called 100-year war. Senior Doctor-at-Bass! D. A.
