Read at Home is an innovative new scheme designed for young, beginner readers. Each of the twelve exciting stories has been written for parents to support their children's reading at home. These entertaining books, are carefully graded across four levels and contain built in progression and vocabulary repetition. Support material is available for parents including Flashcards: Word Games, to reinforce word recognition, and Handbook, which gives advice on helping children to read and includes activities to support their reading. The Old Tree Stump is for children Becoming a Reader - those children who can recognize 10-20 words by sight, can read simple sentences, and know all the initial letter sounds. The story is written with a simple sentence structure and vocabulary repetition with two to three sentences per page. Level 3 corresponds roughly to Oxford Reading Tree stage 3-4.
