"Silverwing" is one of my all-time favorites. I have reread it over and over again. I just loved how many great details this story has, and they made the story feel so real. Definitely would and will recommend this book to all my friends, and to anyone and everyone who is 10+.
5 stars.

One of my absolute favourite books growing up (my first email handle was even "firewing_rox", in reference to the third book in the series, lol). One of the aspects I loved the most about it was how the author takes into account what bat sight is like and cleverly incorporates echolocation into how the characters interact with the world around them, giving the story a feeling of authenticity.

The story is fast-paced but not rushed, with well-developed characters. The information about bats in the story is also accurate, and it's clear the author did his homework about bats before writing the book.

Spoiler alert: Be aware that there are a couple scenes that may be frightening to younger children in regards to a character who is from a species of bat that eats smaller bats. There are no graphic depictions from what I remember, but it is made very clear that it is something the character does.

I read this book as a novel study in Grade 5, and absolutely loved it! I then read all of the books in the series except the prequel (I got bored). Kenneth Opel is a really good author, he writes with emotion and he really feels for his characters. I LOVED this book!!

I LOVE Warriors copies, they're really interesting, and I even wrote a few myself so I guess I can't be angry :3"

This is a fantastic book for mature young folks, with a yearning for adventure. It can be intense in parts, but a parent can guide the reader through it. Many great discussions in our house that came from this series. It's on my top 20 books for kids.
