This sweet story fetures a boy and his secret bond between a pet pigeon, a forbidden friendship by his town's standard's as they hold annual pigeon shooting events where ten year old boys are in charge of wringing the necks of pigeons who are not-quite-alive-not-quite-dead. While Palmer LaRue grows up oblivious to his obvious differences, his kind heart aims to steer him in the right direction in this heart warming tale that will cause you to look at animals (especially pigeons) in a whole new way.
