This book is boring. I finished it hoping it would get better or maybe have an ironic plot twist. Nope. (yawn)
How can this possibly be the same author who wrote "The Crystal Cave" and the other books in the Merlin trilogy? Those books made her my #1 favourite author for all time. The characters and setting were so well done that I lived those books! But for some reason her other books are really mediocre. "The moonspinners" was lame too. It is totally baffling.

I kept waiting for something dark to happen and it never did, but for this sweet little mystery I was relieved that it stayed light. Quick and easy read.

Short and sweet. A bit of mystery. I enjoyed this little book. Would have liked it a little longer, but would not rate it low due to length. Lots of tea in the English country side with characters to follow.

I enjoyed this book when I read it several years ago, but I remember it mostly for its beautifully evocative descriptions of rural WWII England.
