A woman born in Shanghai at the beginning of the Cultural Revolution reflects on her life. An immensely interesting tale of persecution, bravery and loss.

I loved this book!! It is very relevant to our times. It was amazing to me how the people were so swayed by whatever the going thing was: eg, English was bad until Nixon came to visit ..... then it became the language to learn.

Wonderful story about a brave young woman who amazingly ends up in Canada! Very emotional and truly incredible what this woman endured to survive and eventually thrive.
