Although they're small, tubby and shy creatures, Moomins have the most amazing adventures. This wonderful, imaginative story is part of Tove Jansson's collection of magical tales which are as appealing to adults as they are to children. This one begins when Moominpappa tries on a magic hat that makes exciting and funny things happen.

I can't figure out what adults, or even children, see in this series.

BEST book ever for 7-10 year olds, or even older-younger. I have read this book to myself and out loud many, many times to children. Comet in Moominland is also excellent but the other books in this series are not as riveting for children, in my experience. The English translation is a little dated-sounding at times, but otherwise PERFECT.
