Many scenes were of someone sitting in Elvis's car and talking about him. Some biography and some philosophy. Of course, songs. Extras.

this is not a bio-pic but an interesting comparison of two great declines - a man and a country I was unfamiliar with many of the commenters and it was hard to tell who was talking much of the time but it held my attention

An above-average documentary and an excellent metaphor of the decline of Elvis and of America.

I thought this documentary was a bit thin. Using Elvis as an allegory for the U.S. (the DVD suggests that American democracy has turned into military, economic, and cultural imperialism—young, talented, sexy Elvis turning into the fat,…

I liked this biography documentary DVD. It is not as comprehensive and informative as the other DVD. It did have some interesting interviews with other people the other documentary did not have. It showed the old house he lived in when he…

For lovers of documentaries, this is a movie to watch. It's a very ambitious movie that, in the end, pulls it off. The stories of late 20th century America, its musical voice(s), and giant among cultural/musical icons, are thoughtfully…

I like this documentary, watched it a couple of times on PBS and will watch it again. There are other bios of Elvis if that's what you want. However, this vid takes a different perspective and I enjoyed that viewpoint.

I enjoyed this overall even though the filmmaker's attempt to make a parallel between Elvis's rise and fall and America's alleged fall from grace over the same time period wears more than a bit thin. There may be some truth to that…

We really loved this movie! An 8 out of 10! It was not so much about Elvis as a singer and star, as we suspected it would not be! But there were many photos and musical clips of Elvis that we had not seen before, some really great…

I liked this movie even though it was all over the place. It follows no real journey through Elvis' life except to say, maybe, that there was more going on throughout these years than just Elvis. To quote the Grateful Dead "What a long…

Too much talking not enough Elvis.

Comparative narrative of Elvis and 'America'? A discredit to Elvis. Ride along in his Rolls Royce with Ethan Hawke, Mike Myers, ....?, racial prejudice, political one sidedness and turn down volume to the other music. Demeaning to Elvis…
