This so-called mystery wasn't a mystery at all. It was pretty easy to identify the serial killer within the first few chapters just by the process of elimination. The Hamilton family was so unlikeable, I don't know why Jaci would even live in the same town as her mother Loreen. This so-called mystery wasn't a mystery at all. Here we go again. Did Krentz actually write this book, or does she write an outline and someone else "fleshes" it out. It's confusing when the plot goes from a circus trapeze artist escaping death to her owning an inn where a guest is murdered. So many characters are introduced in the first few chapters it's difficult to remember who they are and their connection to the plot. I'm glad I checked this book out as opposed to buying it!Here we go again. Did Krentz actually write this book, or does she write an outline and someone else "fleshes" it out. I agree with other long-time fans that this book really lacks the intrigue of his earlier books. The book seemed to ramble on between the characters and there wasn't the usual WOW ending. It left me wondering why the end was so stupid and I still didn't understand the connections between these characters. I wonder if his son Jesse cowrote this one as he has done in the past. This book did not credit Jesse, but it reads more like his books which I do not like.I agree with other long-time fans that this book really lacks the intrigue of his earlier books. I was disappointed with the second instalment in this series. The first book, When All the Girls Have Gone, had a lot of surprises and Max and Charlotte were more normal. These are two broken people who come together in their search for Quinton Zane but don't seem to have much else in common. It does tell the reader that there will be a third instalment with Jack and the pursuit of Zane.I was disappointed with the second instalment in this series. This is the dullest most boring book I have ever read. It's like sitting through a course on anthropology. The characters' names were mostly three or four letters long and it was impossible to keep them apart. A shorter version without so much narration would make this a better book. I kept thinking "get on with the story" every time she would start discussing weeds and bushes. This is the dullest most boring book I have ever read. This book did not have the feel of a JAK book. The murderer was introduced too early in the book and left little suspense. The characters were weakly written and difficult to understand in any personal sense. There were some major questions unanswered (why did Roxanne marry Egan Briggs?). This book seems to be an intro to two books to follow on the other foster brothers. I have found that many of my favorite authors are so over committed to publish that they do an outline and someone else fills in the story. This book did not have the feel of a JAK book. I love this entry into the Argeneau series. Lucian has always been such an ass that this book really brings him down to earth. It's extremely funny and Lucian's rebellion to finding his love mate is hysterical.
